Who is this guy?

Hi I'm Nic, I'm a game designer and art wrangler with 10 years of experience working on wild an wacky projects.

Growing up I was very BIG into video games, film and TV spending many days with my friends playing everything we could get our hands on. Now after 10 years of building hundreds of projects I still I love games and interactive art. There's nothing better than seeing people learn, laugh and enjoy when interacting with something you have helped build. That's why I love helping bring out the fun of interactive experiences and ensuring that as many people as possible can engage and be entertained.

Having worked at Cactus and Deloitte I have fostered a very specific style of design that focuses on making sure people can have the most amount of fun, learn a skill or be wowed within the tight constraints of short timeline, high impact projects.

Some other stuff about me.

I think Tetris is the best game ever made.

I think several other games are the best games ever made (Ask me about those).

I know a weird amount about professional wrestling.

I met Tim Schafer at a bar one time. It was pretty cool

Alta | 2021 - NOW

At Alta, I lead the design direction of the live VR game A Township Tale. This involves planning for upcoming releases, designing core features, and working with the team to ensure designs are implemented to a high-quality standard. Check out the trailer here .

Deloitte | 2017 - 2021

Much like at Cactus, I was Deloitte’s lead game designer. Specialising in UX for high interactivity experiences and managing the Art pipeline for real time projects. I spent half my time helping other teams discover the best way to design and build their wacky ideas. The other half on the tools, tweaking, building and MacGyvering.

Well Placed Cactus | 2011 - 2017

I co-founded Well Placed Cactus back in 2012 after I graduated from the Griffith Film School with one of the first Bachelor of Games Design degrees in Australia. Before Graduating the GFC meant that all of Australia's Major studios had vanished so myself and some Uni friends hunkered down and made our own job.

After 5 years we were a team of 12 building solutions for brands around the world. We specialised in delivery of Installations for events and museums using new and unique hardware to build exciting and cutting edge experiences.

At Cactus I played the role of Creative Director, focusing on the design and execution of all of our projects.

After building several large scale interactions with Deloitte, we were acquired by them to bring our specialist capabilities in house.
